Meet Dr Chetty-B
Dr Chetty-B is a leading plastic surgeon based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She began her surgical training at Groote Schuur Hospital and Somerset Hospital in Cape Town, after which she travelled internationally and obtained multidisciplinary experience in many different subspecialties. Dr Chetty-B’s training pedigree includes work at Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital in Leeds, UK; Luisen Hospital in Aachen, Germany; Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) in Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Gemini Ziekenhaus Den Helder in Den Helder, Holland. At the latter institution, Dr Chetty-B worked as the Senior House Officer (SHO) in emergency medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, and paediatric surgery.
This varied experience in different surgical units around the world has given Dr Chetty-B unparalleled knowledge of many types of surgery, as well as exposure to a broad range of conditions. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with surgeons around the globe as they worked to resolve challenging surgical conditions and complex academic cases.
Dr Chetty-B finished her training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She subsequently completed a Craniofacial and Cosmetic Surgery fellowship in Dr Marchac’s unit at Hôpital Necker Enfants Malades, Clinique Bizet, and Clinique Marcel Sembat in Paris, France. Dr Chetty-B later worked with acclaimed auricular and plastic surgeon Madam Firmin, who focuses on complex ear reconstruction at Hôpital George Bizet.
After earning a diploma in microsurgery at the Institute Pierre et Marie Curie, Dr Chetty B began work at the American Hospital of Paris under Dr Corinne Becker. Dr Becker is a plastic and aesthetic surgeon who is Head of the European Lymphedema Foundation, as well as a leading figure in microsurgical lymph node transfer at Hôpital Americain and Clinique Hartmann, Neuilly-sur-Seine.
During her remaining time in France, Dr Chetty-B worked with Dr Michael Atlan at Hôpital Tenon, who is a well-established breast and aesthetic reconstruction surgeon. Since her return to South Africa, Dr Chetty-B remains committed to providing liposuction, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, facial rejuvenation, and other high-quality plastic surgery and healthcare services to the Johannesburg community.
